Salary: $70,000 to $80,000/ yr

We’re looking for a driven, energetic, and visionary Sports & Entertainment Manager to take the lead on game-day excitement, campus-wide events, and unforgettable guest experiences at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook/Long Island, NY. From concessions and food trucks to athletic and special events across various venues, you’ll orchestrate the operations that fuel fans, families, and the campus community. As the face of our event services, you'll lead a talented team, manage complex logistics, and ensure every event—big or small—runs seamlessly. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with a passion for delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-Event Planning & Execution: Coordinate and manage all facets of event operations—from pre-event setup and logistics to post-event breakdown. Ensure seamless execution and adherence to timelines and budgets.
-Staff Leadership & Supervision: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise event and concession staff. Maintain accurate scheduling and timesheets while monitoring performance and team development.
-Financial Oversight: Maintain budgetary controls, manage inventory, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability across operations.
-Venue & Facility Operations: Oversee daily operations of assigned venues and food trucks, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and excellent guest services. Supervise the setup and teardown of events and food trucks.
-Stakeholder & Client Relations: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including sponsors, vendors, and campus partners.
-Marketing & Promotions: Support the development and implementation of marketing strategies to increase visibility and attendance at events and services.
Qualifications & Skills:
-Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams effectively
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong organizational and time management capabilities
-Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
-Knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry, including current trends and compliance standards
-Experience with budget and inventory management
-Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and event-specific hours as needed
