Position Summary:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining a variety of DOT safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for our 1099 independent Truck Drivers.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
· Work with the Safety Director to qualify new and existing drivers and ensure all DOT files and paperwork are up to date and uploaded into various software systems.
· Assist in the new hire and termination process for all drivers.
· Maintain various spreadsheets in relations to truck drivers (i.e. Power BI sheet, inventory list, tag spreadsheet, etc).
· Ensure all DOT regulations and requirements are followed and create/maintain operating procedures as needed
· Request and upload Monthly Maintenance reports.
· Run annual MVR’s and CDLIS for existing drivers.
· Order various types of permits for drivers and collaborate with the finance team on billing.
· Understand federal and state laws and monitor regulatory changes as they occur.
· Travel to the DMV as needed to obtain tags for drivers.
· Ensure accurate Electronic and Paper Logs are maintained.
· Motivate all employees and help create a positive work environment
· Cultivate strong relationships with drivers, agents and customers
· Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
Associates’ degree in Transportation, Industrial Safety or related field is preferred.
Relevant experience should include:
· 2-4 years of experience in the Transportation field
· Proficiency with computer software, Microsoft Office Suite and email.
· Excellent telephone etiquette, professional attitude
· Strong organizational, time management, problem solving and customer service skills
· Exceptional attention to detail
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to compile reports and write correspondence
· Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals in a fast-paced, changing environment
